ADAPTED
Explorers are committed to four primary operations:
FIREFIGHTER REHABILITATION
One of the central functions of being a Zone 3 Fire Cadet is supporting King County Fire Service operations through firefighter rehabilitation. Firefighter "REHAB" is the mission of supplying rest, hydration, nourishment, and medical evaluations to members who are involved in extended or extreme incident scene operations. When needed, Cadets are dispatched to fire incidents, multiple-alarm fires, river rescues, Law Enforcement Incidents and more to provide assistance to the firefighters and other First Responders, Emergency Service Personnel and even the public who are on-scene. REHAB involves ensuring personnel rest and hydrate, and have their vitals checked, like: blood pressure, heart rate, and CO. These vitals should be stable, before returning to their duties. Cadets are always prepared to assist with Ground Support, rolling hose after the conclusion of the call, or filling SCBA air bottles during operations.
REHAB IS MULTI-FUNCTIONAL: rehab sustains energy, improves physical performance/mental presence, provides access to paramedics and safety officers, and influences a safe return home for all.

MEETINGS OVERVIEW
The Zone 3 Fire Explorers meet every Wednesday from 18:30 - 21:00 (Advisors & Officers meet at 18:00 the first meeting of the month). The program is sponsored by four central fire agencies in King County: the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, the Tukwila Fire Department, the Renton Regional Fire Authority, and the Maple Valley Fire Department. Each month the meetings transfer between four reoccurring fire stations (one for each of the four supporting fire departments):
(1) Station 46, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority
3521 S 170 St., Seatac, WA 98188
(2) Station 51, Tukwila Fire Department
444 Andover Park E, Tukwila, WA 98188
(3) Station 14, Renton Regional Fire Authority
1900 Lind Ave SW, Renton, WA 98057
(4) Station 81, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority
22225 SE 231 St., Maple Valley, WA 98038
The first meeting of each month is utilized as a monthly business meeting, which allows the Advisors and officers to communicate the game plan for the month. This also provides an opportunity for the Explorers to undergo a uniform inspection, wash and clean rigs, and re-group within their companies. The other meetings are dedicated to training; each station has unique characteristics which encourage diverse instruction. Explorers are required to attend at least three of the four meetings a month to be considered active in the program.

EVENTS
We take pride in our consistent involvement with our local communities and public events through community outreach. On top of the four meetings a month, there are events which Explorers help develop. Some of the large-scale events the Zone 3 Fire Explorers frequent are the Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, Seafair, the NW Paddlefest, and the Kent Cornucopia Days.
If you are an organization, coordinator, or Fire agency, and would like Zone 3 Fire Explorer support at your event, please refer to the contacts page and provide a name, potential objectives/expectations, as well as a date, time, and location. The Post Captain or an available Advisor will give a response as soon as possible. |
COMPETITIONS2019 ANNUAL WAFF MUSTER
In June of 2019, the Zone Three Fire Explorers will be attending the 2018 Annual Washington Association of Future Firefighters Muster at the North Bend Fire Training Academy. Explorer programs from around Washington state compete in critical training drills and develop a higher understanding of what it means to pursue a career in the Fire Service. |

NATIONAL FIRE AND EMS EXPLORING CONFERENCES
Every few years, the Explorers also attend the National Fire and EMS Exploring Conference, and compete against other Explorer programs from every corner of the United States. This is a fantastic way to not only learn how other Explorers programs around the U.S. train and develop their abilities, but also provides an opportunity for Explorers to associate themselves with like-minded youth who maintain a similar passion for helping those in need. |
